After the horror film "Weapons," director Zak Kreger took on a new adaptation of Resident Evil. Recently, Collider spoke with actress Kali Reis, who is involved in the film as one of the soldiers, and she had encouraging words for fans of the series.
According to Reis, the project is already making a strong impression — primarily due to Kreger's clear authorial vision.
"Zak is a master. He knows exactly what he wants. He has a very clear vision: what he expects from the camera, from the actors, from the atmosphere — from everything in general. And he is really pleasant to work with."
The actress admitted that she has long been a fan of Resident Evil and enthusiastically accepted the offer to star in the film. Now, observing the project from the inside, she is confident that the film will appeal to fans.
"I'll be honest: as a Resident Evil fan since the very first part, I appreciated his attempt to tell a different story. I haven't seen the finished film yet, of course, but I participated in its creation — and the script is amazing. You will be very pleased."
Previously, Kreger himself also emphasized that he is a big fan of the franchise and wants to make a film specifically for such fans. At the same time, it is not about retelling already familiar events, but about a new story within the overall universe.
According to the director, the plot will unfold approximately between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, but will be imbued with the spirit of Resident Evil 4 — his favorite game in the series.
According to the official description, the film will tell about a courier who goes to Raccoon City at night with a delivery and unexpectedly finds himself in the very epicenter of the epidemic. The main role went to Austin Abrams ("Weapons").
The premiere of the new Resident Evil adaptation is scheduled for September 18, 2026.
