The third season of the animated series "Primal" recently premiered. On this occasion, Forbes spoke with director Genndy Tartakovsky, who spoke about the concept of the new season and hinted that the story of the prehistoric warrior Spear may get a sequel.

Initially, the project was supposed to end after the second season. However, the idea to "bring Spear back as a zombie" appeared spontaneously and opened up a new direction for the series.

According to Tartakovsky, the third season became the most personal of all — it is a story about "finding life through death." He also admitted that some of the ideas did not make it into the final script. One such idea was an episode in the spirit of George Orwell, which would take place in the future and resemble the "Primal Theory" series with Charles Darwin from the second season. This concept was abandoned due to the complexity of implementation.

As Forbes journalist Josh Weiss notes, the question of a fourth season remains open, but Tartakovsky does not rule out the continuation of the "Primal" brand as long as it does not become "eternal" — a direct quote is not given.

"Whatever we do next, it will be frank and emotional. Alive, in two-dimensional format, with a minimum of dialogue and exciting visual storytelling — that's the point. It could be three seasons of something else, one season, or anything else. But I would really like it to continue. I don't know yet. It's too early to say."

From these words, it follows that if "Primal" does get a sequel, it will retain its recognizable style: a minimum of words, a maximum of emotions, and complete fidelity to the author's style.
