There have been notable behind-the-scenes changes in James Gunn's «Superman» sequel. The director confirmed that Sam McCurdy, known for the series «Game of Thrones» and «Shōgun», will be the cinematographer for the film «Superman: Legacy».

Thus, Gunn is parting ways with his longtime cinematographer Henry Braham for the first time in years, with whom he worked on two parts of «Guardians of the Galaxy», «The Suicide Squad», and «Superman» (2025).

According to the director, there is no conflict behind this decision. The replacement is dictated by the desire to update the visual style of the picture. Gunn noted that he chose McCurdy because he had an excellent experience with him on the set of the first season of «Peacemaker». Moreover, Gunn himself previously called the second season of «Peacemaker» a kind of prequel to «Superman: Legacy», which also explains the choice of cinematographer.

The premiere of «Superman: Legacy» is scheduled for July 9, 2027. James Gunn is once again the director and screenwriter. David Corenswet (Superman) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) will return to their roles. The main villain will be Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
