James Gunn explained why the new Batman in the DC cinematic universe will not appear soon. The head of DC Studios confirmed that the film «The Brave and the Bold», dedicated to Bruce Wayne and his son Damian, will not be released in the same year as the sequel to Matt Reeves' film — «The Batman 2».
«I'm not going to release two Batman movies in the same year», Gunn replied to a fan who inquired about the fate of the project. At the same time, the director emphasized that any talk about dates is premature, since the script is not yet ready.
«I can't even give approximate dates until there is a working script. Right now we are focused on “The Batman 2” and don't want to clutter the Bat-Sphere».
Reeves' film starring Robert Pattinson is scheduled for October 1, 2027. This means that a new version of Batman within the DCU may not appear until 2028: «The Brave and the Bold» still does not have a script, and it is simply impossible to imagine a release in 2026 with such input.
