Blood West Sales on Steam Increased by 200% After Free Giveaway on Epic Games Store

He noted that the game was available for free during the holidays, which immediately led to a sharp increase in sales on Steam compared to the previous day. Previously, Dave considered Epic Games a "marketing black hole," but now he saw that a free giveaway can serve as indirect advertising for Steam.
According to him, New Blood Interactive does not receive royalties from the Epic Games Store: all revenue went to the developer Hyperstrange, who "received a lot of money for the free giveaway." The money from Epic and Steam is used to finance a new DLC for Blood West.
Dave added that the free giveaway also led to an increase in sales of the console version.
Blood West was given away on Epic on December 20, 2025. The game is a mix of Weird West mythology and horror, where the player takes on the role of a Cursed Gunslinger looking for a way to cleanse his soul.
