Ryan Hurst, who has been cast as Kratos in the upcoming God of War series from Amazon, has commented on his appointment for the first time. The actor wrote on social media:
"I used to play as him. Now I will become him. Thank you for the opportunity to raise the axe and honor the fans who made this story legendary."
This is not Hurst's first involvement in the God of War universe. In God of War Ragnarök, he voiced Thor and was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor. Now, the actor will embody the main character of the franchise.
The series adapts the events of the Scandinavian saga that began with God of War (2018) and tells the story of Kratos and Atreus' journey. Amazon MGM Studios, PlayStation Productions, and Sony Pictures Television are handling the production. Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar Galactica") is the showrunner and screenwriter, and Frederick E. O. Toye ("Fallout", "The Boys") will direct the first episodes.
Earlier, Teresa Palmer also joined the cast of the series — she will play the role of the goddess Sif, Thor's wife.
