The studio decided to cancel the ambitious project.
Recently, gamers remembered Project Blackbird again. The development was handled by ZeniMax Online Studios, known for The Elder Scrolls Online, but Microsoft (Xbox) closed the project in the summer of 2025.
In January of this year, footage of this project began to circulate online. At first, some users began to accuse eXtas1stv of publishing a fake, but then the authoritative insider Tom Henderson joined in, who confirmed the authenticity of the recording.
It was assumed that Project Blackbird would be an MMO game. The eXtas1stv materials published were intended for internal use — a presentation of the lighting system.
