Paramount, it seems, has finally abandoned the adaptation of Joe Abercrombie's novel "Best Served Cold." The director of the first "Deadpool" and the "Sonic the Hedgehog" trilogy, Tim Miller, confirmed that the film, in which Rebecca Ferguson was to play the main role, ultimately "just didn't happen."

The project was first announced in 2023. Miller was developing the film for Skydance and working with Ferguson, who was cast as Monzcarro Mercatto — a mercenary who embarks on a path of revenge. At the start, Miller described the film as a mix of "Kill Bill" and "Game of Thrones."

However, production stalled fairly quickly. First, the project was frozen against the backdrop of the WGA writers' strike, then the situation was complicated by the merger of Skydance and Paramount, after which several films were immediately in question.

Paramount has not made an official statement about the cancellation of the adaptation, but in this case, the director's words speak for themselves. At the same time, Miller emphasizes that he still loves Abercrombie's books and hopes that one day they will still make it to the screen.
