"What are you doing, ***?" Life is Strange fans are unhappy with Reunion due to the absence of Ashly Burch
Chloe has long been voiced by Rhianna DeVries, which fans of the series really don't like.
Announced on January 20, Life is Strange: Reunion divided the community of fans of the series: some players are happy to see Max Caulfield and Chloe Price on the screens again, while others are extremely saddened that Chloe will again be voiced by Rhianna DeVries, and not Ashly Burch, who gave the girl a voice in the original game.
For reference: in 2017, Ashly Burch was unable to return to the role due to the SAG-AFTRA actors' strike, so she was replaced by Rhianna DeVries (who was already involved as a motion capture actress). Later, Burch returned only in the bonus episode Farewell. Now, when there are no strikes, many fans call the decision to give the role to DeVries again strange and even offensive.
"My expectations for Reunion have fallen below the baseboard. It's hard to be excited about the announcement after the previous game, and now it turns out that you didn't even call Ashly Burch for the role of Chloe... What are you doing, ***?", — complains one of the emotional fans.
"They are bringing Chloe back to Life is Strange because of fan pressure, but they don't bother to spend money on the original voice actress. After all, it was Ashly Burch's acting that made this character so memorable," — explained another fan.
Life is Strange: Reunion will be released on March 26 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
