Avatar Fans Call Each Other to the Cinema to Save the Box Office of "The Flame and the Ashes"
Part of the community fears that the fourth and fifth films may be canceled if the film does not raise enough money.
James Cameron's "Avatar: The Flame and the Ashes" continues to hold its own in the global box office, but the fan community has suddenly decided that the film needs help. A campaign has unfolded on Reddit under the slogan "Pandora Needs Us", in which viewers are encouraged to go to the cinema again - and preferably not alone.
An author under the nickname Silver-Squirrell published a post in which he called on fans of the franchise to revisit cinemas and even buy tickets for friends or relatives. The goal, he said, is simple: "to strengthen the film's position in the box office ranking so that Disney finally approves the fourth and fifth parts."
At the time of publication, the worldwide box office of "The Flame and the Ashes" is $1.319 billion. This is an impressive result, but by Avatar standards, it is a modest success, inferior to previous films in the series. Analysts predict that the film will not be able to overcome the $2 billion mark - exactly the bar that Disney would reportedly like to see before approving investments in the next two films. This explains the fans' concerns about the future of the franchise.
At the same time, not all users share the enthusiasm of the campaign participants. Some viewers point out that the film has already grossed almost one and a half billion dollars with an estimated budget of about $400 million and, by all accounts, feels quite confident.
