The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Christina Hodson is indeed working on the script for «The Brave and the Bold» for DC Studios. According to media reports, one source said that the screenwriter has been working on the project since at least the fall. Another clarified that it will be a long time before the final version of the script appears, as the studio takes a cautious and balanced approach to development.
The report also notes that Hodson "has earned the respect of colleagues and management for her strong scripts." In particular, her work on the «Batman Beyond» film, which was in development until the previous DC cinematic universe was shut down, is mentioned. Previously, the screenwriter also worked on «Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn» (2020), «The Flash» (2023) and the yet-to-be-released «Batgirl».
As for director Andy Muschietti, according to the publication, he remains associated with the project, but his final participation depends on several factors, including timing and workload. It is reported that after working on the series «It: Welcome to Derry», the director took a short break.
In the end, this is another confirmation that the film is in the very early stages of development. Earlier, James Gunn directly stated that he does not intend to release «The Brave and the Bold» in the same year as Matt Reeves' «The Batman 2», which potentially shifts the release of the project to at least 2028.
