Director Destin Daniel Cretton said that the film "Spider-Man: A Brand New Day" will be noticeably different in tone from Tom Holland's previous trilogy. According to him, the new part consciously takes a step towards a more mature mood and opens a "new chapter" in the life of Peter Parker.
The plot of "A Brand New Day" unfolds some time after the events of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", when the world has forgotten who Peter Parker is. The hero lives alone and tries to rebuild his life. In the film, he will have to face a new threat and team up with the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal.
Other details about the plot are still scarce, but the return of the Hulk, played by Mark Ruffalo, and Scorpion, who will be played again by Michael Mando, have already been confirmed. Sadie Sink is also involved in the project, but her character is still kept secret.
Cretton noted that the idea of changing direction was supported by all key participants in the project — Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal and Holland himself. Although the film will retain its PG-13 rating, the story will become more serious due to the themes of loneliness, responsibility and Peter's growing up. At the same time, the director emphasizes that this is still the same Spider-Man familiar to viewers, but the circumstances around the hero have radically changed.
The premiere of "Spider-Man: A Brand New Day" in foreign distribution is scheduled for July 31, 2026.
