Nintendo, Universal Pictures, and Illumination studio presented a new trailer for the animated film \"Super Mario: Galactic Movie.\" Along with the trailer, the authors confirmed the updated premiere date: the film will be released in US cinemas on April 1, 2026, two days earlier than previously announced.
The new trailer showcases Mario's journey through various galactic worlds and fully reveals Yoshi for the first time, whose appearance was hinted at in the post-credits scene of the first film. The trailer also features elements directly referencing Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey.
Chris Pratt (Mario), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), and Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach) have returned to their roles. The sequel will also feature new characters: Rosalina, performed by Brie Larson, Bowser Jr., voiced by Benny Safdie, and Kamek, performed by Kevin Michael Richardson. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are returning as directors. Composer Brian Tyler has returned to work on the soundtrack.
The original film \"The Super Mario Bros. Movie\" (2023) became one of the most successful releases in animation history, grossing approximately $1.36 billion worldwide. This made it the highest-grossing film based on a video game of all time, and now Nintendo hopes to surpass this success.
