Bandai Namco brought two game announcements to the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri festival, timed to coincide with the franchise's 40th anniversary. One of them was a new game in the Dragon Ball universe with the working title Age 1000.

According to series producer Masayuki Hirano, the project has been in development for about seven years. Akira Toriyama managed to participate in the creation of the world and new characters before his death in 2024. One of them can be seen in the debut teaser — a young hero with gray hair and Capsule Corp equipment, but the developers prefer not to reveal his identity yet.

The genre and plot of Age 1000 are still kept secret. Judging by the name, the game will take place in the year 1000 of the Dragon Ball universe — several centuries after the original manga. The developers promise a "new era of Dragon Ball" and a completely original story.

Age 1000 is scheduled for release in 2027, and new details will be shown at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, which will be held April 18-19 in Los Angeles.

In addition, producer Jun Furutani confirmed that the fighting game Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero will receive a "massive" DLC. The expansion will add new fighters, arenas, costumes, and the Zero theme song, performed by series veteran Hironobu Kageyama.

The update will be released in the summer of 2026, and on January 26, a free single-player Mission 100 mode, inspired by the fighting game Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for PlayStation 2 and Wii, will appear on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. At the same time, the versions for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 will receive the add-on a little later.
