The legendary shooter continues its journey across a variety of platforms.
Recently, another experiment was conducted with running DOOM. This time, the developer arin-s distinguished himself.
He managed to launch the shooter on PineBuds Pro — he explained that these are the "only headphones with open source firmware."
This model has a sufficiently powerful processor to run DOOM. arin-s "overclocked the CPU to 300 MHz and turned off the low power mode", which allowed him to provide "more than enough" power to run the game.
The headphones do not have a screen, so a smartphone was used to visualize DOOM — in this mode, the shooter could output about 18 FPS:
