The editors of Hardware Unboxed found that Windows 11 has now become a better choice for gamers than Windows 10 — even taking into account the features imposed by Microsoft, such as Copilot.
In the current version of Windows 11 with the 25H2 update, the system demonstrates an advantage that increases with higher resolutions. In 4K, Windows 11 showed an average of 141 fps, while Windows 10 showed 134 fps. In 1440p, the difference is also in favor of the new OS: 194 fps versus 185 fps.
The turning point occurred after the release of the 24H2 update for Windows 11. Since then, the system has significantly accelerated in games, especially when paired with AMD processors, and began to outperform Windows 10, as confirmed by Hardware Unboxed tests.
Microsoft has already announced further optimizations for Windows 11, including scheduler improvements. Their impact on gaming performance will become clear closer to 2026.
