Robin Hood Instead of Indrzhikh: Kingdom Come: Deliverance Authors Talk About Alternative Game Concepts
The game could have turned out completely different.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance wasn't built right away. In the initial stage, the developers considered various setting options.
In a conversation with Edge, Warhorse Studios Design Director Viktor Bocan shared his memories — the game's events could have unfolded in medieval Germany or England during the time of Robin Hood (15th century).
However, a problem arose: the KCD developers "knew nothing" about these settings, so they eventually came to the option of medieval Bohemia.
Viktor also explained the approach of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance developers to building the world:
Historical elements are present not only because we wanted to recreate history. We added them because, if everything is done correctly, players start to believe [in this world, consider it plausible].
