Henry Cavill has shared a first look at his image in the Highlander reboot, directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski. In the published footage, the actor appears in the role of Connor MacLeod.
“It has been a long journey, which I will talk about when the time comes — but right now is a special moment, and I am happy to share it with you. I hope you enjoy it.”
The Highlander reboot has survived several delays. Filming was planned to start as early as last year, but production had to be put on pause after Cavill suffered an injury during preparation for the role. Judging by the appearance of official stills, the actor has fully recovered, and production is once again in an active phase.
The film will also star Russell Crowe, Djimon Hounsou, Karen Gillan, Jeremy Irons, Marisa Abela, and Dave Bautista, who landed the role of the main villain — the Kurgan. Crowe will play Ramirez — MacLeod's mentor, who was portrayed by Sean Connery in the original 1986 film.
The release date for Highlander has not yet been announced. Previously, Stahelski mentioned that he plans to release the film in 2027-2028, but that was before the latest production halt due to Cavill's injury.
