Switch 2 is being prepared for an influx of AAA hits - insider reveals publishers' plans
2026 has become a key year for Nintendo Switch 2 owners thanks to active support from third-party publishers.
According to insider Nate the Hate, the Nintendo console will receive a number of major releases that previously bypassed the company's platforms. An important part of the strategy will be "day and date" releases — simultaneous release of games on Switch 2, PlayStation and Xbox.
Among the projects planned for release in 2026 are major RPGs. These include Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Metaphor: ReFantazio from Atlus. After the recent release of the port of the first part of the Final Fantasy VII remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth should be released on Switch 2 in 2026. Final Fantasy XVI is also mentioned.
The Switch 2 library in 2026 should be supplemented with updated versions of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Remake with graphics capabilities at the level of older consoles, including ray tracing. The list also includes new installments of Yakuza / Like a Dragon and Microsoft projects — Starfield and Indiana Jones.
If the data is confirmed, the Nintendo Switch 2 will no longer be perceived as a platform exclusively for Nintendo games and will become a full-fledged portable alternative for major AAA releases.
