Nintendo commented on the scandalous situation surrounding the Switch and Switch 2 version of Dispatch, which was released this week in a noticeably cut-down form. Unlike the PS5 and PC editions, where players can independently enable or disable explicit content, on Nintendo platforms the superhero adventure turned out to be completely censored.
"Big N" emphasized that it did not take direct part in changing the game's content. According to Nintendo, all projects on its platforms are required to undergo certification by independent ratings organizations and comply with established content and platform requirements. At the same time, Nintendo only notifies partners about non-compliance with the rules, but does not make edits to the games themselves and does not disclose the details of such decisions.
However, this explanation did not eliminate players' questions. Many pointed out that Dispatch was subjected to strict censorship, while Cyberpunk 2077 — a project with an abundance of adult content — was actively promoted as one of the key games for Switch 2.
Journalists explained that the Japanese rating system CERO, known for its extremely strict attitude toward the depiction of nudity in video games, plays an important role here. At the same time, the Nintendo eShop works in such a way that the game version is automatically determined by the region in the console's system settings, regardless of which store it was purchased from.
