Amazon MGM Studios has announced a new addition to the cast of the TV adaptation of God of War for Prime Video. Alastair Duncan has joined the project and will once again play Mimir. The actor previously voiced the character in God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök.
Mimir is one of the key supporting characters in the Norse saga. In the original source material, he is known as "the smartest man alive" and a former adviser to Odin, whom the supreme god of Asgard eventually imprisoned in a magical tree. After his exile, Mimir seeks to atone for the deeds committed in the service of the All-Father.
The God of War series will adapt the events of the Norse chapter of the franchise and will focus on the journey of Kratos and his son Atreus. The project is led by showrunner Ronald D. Moore ("For All Mankind"), while the leading role is played by Ryan Hurst.
The series has already been renewed for a second season. The premiere date of the first has not yet been announced.
