Subnautica 2 remains Steam's most anticipated game by the number of wishlists.
The situation became more complicated after the studio Unknown Worlds entered into a legal conflict with Krafton. This raised questions about the future of the project, whose fate now appears to be under threat.
The developers have not yet commented on the dispute directly, but they continue to publish episodes of the show "Voices from Beyond" (the latest one was released on January 29). In December, they presented a new Dev Vlog featuring the Tadpole project, a compact underwater vehicle. In the video, the team talks about the advantages of Unreal Engine 5, particularly the Nanite system, and about the expanded exploration possibilities enabled by Tadpole.
At the same time, the studio is urging fans to add Subnautica 2 to their wishlists on Steam, Xbox Store, and Epic Games Store. Officially, the Early Access launch is scheduled for 2026 for PC and Xbox consoles.
