Animator and director Genndy Tartakovsky, known for "Primal," may be involved in the creation of an animated Game of Thrones spin-off under the working title "Nine Voyages." Mention of the project was spotted in a Deadline interview with HBO chief Casey Bloys.

The series, if the available information is to be believed, will be devoted to the youth of Lord Corlys Velaryon — the Sea Snake, who was played in House of the Dragon by Steve Toussaint. Bloys himself, in conversation with the outlet, declined to comment directly on projects set in the Game of Thrones universe, but he also did not deny the existence of "Nine Voyages."

George R. R. Martin had previously spoken about the project as well. In 2024, he said that "Nine Voyages" was originally conceived as a live-action series, but due to budget constraints the concept was ultimately reworked into an animated format. According to the writer, a significant part of the story unfolds at sea, and filming would have required large-scale port construction and constant location changes for each episode.

At the same time, there has so far been no official confirmation from HBO that the project is in active development or that Genndy Tartakovsky is involved.
