Studio RocketWerkz and publisher Grip Digital have announced the release date of the console version of the survival game Icarus. The game, which until now had only been available on PC, will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on February 26.
Icarus takes place on the planet of the same name, conceived as a "second home for humanity." The terraforming experiment went off the rails and ended in disaster, turning the surface of the world into a deadly danger zone. Players will have to survive in a hostile environment where toxic clouds, fires, storms, and predators literally force people to retreat back into orbit.
The console edition immediately includes the New Frontiers expansion with new regions, from volcanic wastelands to alien swamps. The package also includes six story missions, mutated creatures, and hundreds of items for crafting, from weapons and tools to building materials and food.
Three modes are available to choose from: free exploration, contracts with strict time limits, and the "Outposts" mode focused on relaxed building.
Icarus supports both solo play and co-op for up to four players. The developers clarified that cross-play between PC and consoles is not planned; however, the progression structure and talent system will be completely identical across all platforms.
Icarus was originally released on Steam in December 2021. At the time of publication, the game has 74% positive reviews based on more than 47 thousand user reviews.
