The new project from Team NINJA will become available on PC and PlayStation 5 later this week.
On February 4, critics began sharing reviews of Nioh 3, the new soulslike from Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA.
Reviewers call the updated combat system the main strength of Nioh 3, as it has become even more varied. The ability to switch between samurai and ninja styles adds tactical flexibility. Critics note that the battles require concentration, while also delivering a rare sense of control and mastery.
Critics also specifically praise the open world and the level structure, which encourage player curiosity.
Among the drawbacks, reviewers noted the overloaded interface and abundance of mechanics — even fans of the series may not immediately figure everything out — as well as graphics that are not particularly impressive by today’s standards.
At the time of writing, Nioh 3 has a score of 88 on OpenCritic and 86 on Metacritic.
