Japanese game designer Goichi Suda previously claimed that the Chinese company had allegedly categorically forbidden its teams from using AI when working on games.
NetEase issued an official denial of rumors that the company had allegedly abandoned the use of generative AI in game development and banned its studios from using this technology.
The reason for the discussion was a recent interview with Goichi Suda (Suda51), in which he stated that the rejection of AI was "NetEase corporate policy", and that the company itself had allegedly shut down its own AI division and directly instructed its teams " not to use AI at all when working on games".
However, in a comment to FRVR, NetEase representatives called such claims inaccurate. According to the company, the described situation "does not correspond to reality," and the publisher itself continues to actively work with AI technologies — to the point that NetEase is preparing a separate presentation on the use of AI at the GDC conference this year.
