Henry Cavill has thrown himself headfirst into work on the series set in the Warhammer 40K universe for Amazon Prime Video. According to CNews, Cavill is not limiting himself to the status of producer and performer of one of the key roles — he is personally involved in script development and makes sure that the project does not deviate from canon.
According to sources, Cavill regularly stays at the office until four in the morning, rewatching reference videos and lore breakdowns for Warhammer. He uses these nightly deep dives for so-called "lore audits" — a detailed review of scripts for consistency with the source material. This concerns not only major plot decisions, but also small details: the armor colors of individual Space Marine chapters, faction insignia, and the correct use of terminology in High Gothic — the language of the Imperium of Man.
Sources claim that Cavill firmly shuts down any attempts to simplify or "modernize" the lore if it goes against the spirit of the universe. His involvement is explained by his genuine love for Warhammer, which the actor has spoken about publicly more than once.
Full-scale development of the project began after the agreement between Amazon and Games Workshop was signed in 2024. The series is currently at the scriptwriting stage. It is expected that after filming on director Chad Stahelski's reboot of "Highlander" is completed, Cavill will focus entirely on the Warhammer 40K cinematic universe.
According to preliminary estimates, the premiere of the first season is expected no earlier than 2028.
