The developers note that these animated characters and their adventures are canon for the Horizon series.
Guerrilla officially announced Horizon Hunters Gathering — a co-op action game set in the Horizon universe, being developed for PS5 and PC. The project had been in the works since the earliest stages of the series' creation: according to the developers, the idea of hunting machines together emerged back in the days of Horizon Zero Dawn and eventually took shape as a full-fledged standalone game.
Horizon Hunters Gathering is designed for a team of up to three players, who take on the roles of Hunters and work together to protect the world from deadly machines. The combat system emphasizes tactics, reaction speed, and individual skill, developing the core principles of the Horizon series but with a clear focus on team interaction.
The developers showcased two modes:
- Machine Incursion — the heroes will have to fend off constantly intensifying waves of machines and ultimately fight a boss
- Cauldron Descent — a longer multi-stage mode with constantly changing locations and tense battles
Both modes will be available in a closed playtest, which will take place in late February as part of the PlayStation Beta Program on PS5 and PC.
Between missions, the team will return to Hunters Gathering — a social hub where players can customize characters, upgrade gear, interact with merchants, and gather before the next sorties.
