The strategy game Sid Meier’s Civilization VII has made its way to the Apple ecosystem. Since February 5, the game has been available to Apple Arcade subscribers in the Arcade Edition format, available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

In terms of content, this is almost a full-fledged PC release. All the key elements of the series are in place: from founding the first village to global conflicts of the nuclear age. The player still guides a chosen civilization through the centuries, making decisions that determine the course of world history.

The differences in Arcade Edition primarily concern controls and the interface — they were redesigned for touchscreens. At the same time, at launch the Apple Arcade version was left without multiplayer and DLC. Firaxis Games notes that they may return to this issue later if the audience shows sufficient interest.

There are also technical limitations. On devices with less than 8 GB of RAM, only small maps are available, while large scenarios run only on flagship models.

Civilization VII cannot be purchased separately — the game is distributed exclusively through an Apple Arcade subscription. There is also no talk of an Android version in the near future.
