Several major games from Microsoft will be released in 2026 at once.
Microsoft is preparing a truly packed 2026 for the Xbox brand, timed to the platform's 25th anniversary. This was reported by The Verge journalist Tom Warren, who revealed the updated release schedule and the company's plans for key franchises and services.
The main confirmed release has already become Forza Horizon 6 from Playground Games — the racing project will be released on May 19, 2026, as was officially announced at Xbox Developer Direct 2026.
According to Warren's sources, Xbox also plans to release Halo Campaign Evolved this summer — a remake of the campaign from the original 2001 Halo: Combat Evolved.
In the fall, the company expects to release the new Fable, which Playground Games had previously already confirmed. In the same period, the release of Gears of War: E-Day is expected — a prequel to the famous series starring Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in the leading roles.
At the same time, Microsoft is choosing launch windows extremely carefully: both projects will try to be released as early as possible so as not to overlap with Grand Theft Auto VI, whose release is scheduled for November 19. Warren notes that December is traditionally considered a weak month for releases, so a shift "behind GTA VI" would be undesirable for Xbox.
