Ubisoft has stopped development of the multiplayer mode for Assassin's Creed Shadows, which was being worked on by Ubisoft Annecy.
The project was called League and was conceived as a co-op action game in which up to four assassins could operate together.
Following one of the internal demonstrations, League was cancelled — without the expected live tests being conducted. Nevertheless, sources claim that the project's work will not be lost entirely. A small team of around ten people will focus on transferring the technical solutions into the Anvil engine base and preparing concepts for co-op modes in future major Assassin’s Creed games.
