The studio always wanted a trilogy.
In an interview with GamesIndustry.Biz, MachineGames head Jerk Gustafsson implied that the studio has not put an end to the Wolfenstein story. According to him, the team initially always considered this series as a trilogy and intends to complete it. However, he did not specify exactly when this would happen.

He has made similar statements before. Last fall, in the NoClip documentary about the creation of Wolfenstein, the head of the studio confirmed that the team still has a story they want to tell about B.J. Blaskowitz. Therefore, talk about Wolfenstein 3 does not look like empty promises.
