Rumors about the release of Todd Howard's space adventure on Nintendo's gaming device have been circulating online for a long time.

Answering a question on the ResetEra forum about whether Starfield will be released on Switch 2 simultaneously with the release on PS5, well-known insider Shinobi602 said that "its release has been pushed back", and possibly "it will not be released at all".

When users inquired whether the postponement was related to an attempt to get into the holiday sales season, the insider clarified that the reason lies in some problems that Bethesda encountered.

It was previously assumed that the PS5 and Switch 2 versions of Starfield would be launched along with a major 2.0 update. It should bring noticeable changes to game mechanics, reduce loading times and improve optimization — including for less powerful devices, such as portable consoles. However, if the developers really encountered technical difficulties when adapting the game for Switch 2, then some of the innovations from update 2.0 may be delayed longer than expected.
