The new project will focus on the female characters of the franchise.
Toei Animation has announced the premiere date of the One Piece Heroines spin-off. The first special episode will be released on July 5 and will consist of one episode.
The episode adapts the story episode: NAMI from the novel ONE PIECE novel HEROINES. According to the plot, Nami finds herself at a fashion show. A shoe designer agrees to remake a pair that doesn't suit her, but in return demands participation in the fashion show. The anime will also feature original scenes not found in the novel, including episodes with Nico Robin.
Haruka Kamatani («Doremi: Looking for Magic»), who previously worked on individual episodes of One Piece, has been appointed as the director of the special episode. Takashi Kojima («Monsters: One Hundred Three Mercies») is responsible for the character design, and Momoka Toyoda («My Happy Marriage») wrote the script.
The original novels were first published in One Piece Magazine in 2019, and later released as separate volumes under the JUMP j BOOKS label — the first in June 2021, the second in March 2024. Each story is a self-contained story dedicated to one of the heroines: from Nico Robin's archaeological research or Perona's battle for the last bottle of wine.
It is not yet known when other special episodes based on the remaining stories will be released.
