Red Dead Redemption 2 Current-Gen Console Update Still in Development - Insider Expects Release in 2026
RDR 2 remains one of the most successful games in history, but the console version has a long-standing issue - the absence of a 60 FPS mode. With the release of current-gen consoles in 2020, fans have been awaiting an update with improved graphics and performance.
Dozens of reports from insiders have emerged over the past few years, but Rockstar Games has yet to make an official announcement. Now, a new signal has appeared: according to insider NateTheHate, Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive a current-gen update "this year."
The statement was made in response to a question on social media. There are no exact dates yet, and the wording "this year" leaves a wide time frame.
The situation is complicated by the release of GTA 6, which is scheduled for November, with the marketing campaign starting in the summer. It is unlikely that Rockstar would want to shift attention from one major release to another, although such cases have occurred in the industry.
At the end of last year, the company released a remaster of the first Red Dead Redemption with 4K, 60 fps, and HDR support. The announcement came without prior teasers or presentations. It is possible that Rockstar will do something similar with Red Dead Redemption 2.
