RDR 2 remains one of the most successful games in history, but the console version has a long-standing issue - the absence of a 60 FPS mode. Since the launch of the current-generation consoles in 2020, fans have been waiting for an update with improved graphics and performance.
Over the past few years, dozens of reports from insiders have appeared, but Rockstar Games still has not made an official announcement. Now there is a new signal: according to insider NateTheHate, Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive a current-generation update "this year".
The statement was made in response to a question on social media. There are no exact dates yet, and the wording "this year" leaves a wide time window.
The situation is complicated by the release of GTA 6, which is scheduled for November, while the marketing campaign will begin in the summer. It is unlikely that Rockstar will want to shift attention from one major release to another, although such cases have happened in the industry before.
At the end of last year, the company released a remaster of the first Red Dead Redemption with support for 4K, 60 fps, and HDR. The announcement was made without prior teasers or presentations. It is possible that Rockstar will handle Red Dead Redemption 2 in a similar way.
