The project will no longer be an "exclusive" to the mobile Epic Games Store.
The chess "roguelike" Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate is preparing to release in new mobile stores — App Store and Google Play. According to the game's page in the Apple digital store, the release may take place on February 24, 2026. The project is already available for pre-order for 499 rubles. Support for the Russian language and gamepads is declared.
Shotgun King is an unusual roguelike strategy that rethinks classic chess. According to the plot, the entire army of the black king deserted, and the player has to survive alone, having at his disposal only the king himself, a shotgun, and the need to avoid checkmate at any cost.
Each turn allows you to either move the king or shoot at one of the opponent's pieces. After the shot, you need to spend a separate action to reload the weapon. To complete the level, you need to destroy the enemy king. Between levels, the player is offered to choose random cards — some strengthen the hero, others make opponents more dangerous.
One game session lasts about 20 minutes on average. Shotgun King features 15 difficulty levels, an upgrade card system, an endless mode, and a chase mode in which enemies constantly put pressure on the king from all sides of the board.
Initially, Shotgun King was released on PC on May 12, 2022. The game has more than 5300 user reviews on Steam, 92% of which are positive. On mobile devices, the project has already been released in the Epic Games Store — December 18, 2025. At the same time, it could be added to the library for free as part of the distribution. Now Shotgun King will be available in more familiar mobile stores.
