The management of Warner Bros. Discovery has the highest expectations for the “Harry Potter” series. CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at the company, JB Perrette, stated that the project will become the “main streaming event of the decade” and the largest release in the history of HBO Max.
Speaking at the service's presentation in London, Perrette emphasized the scale of the project's ambitions.
“This will be the biggest streaming event in the history of HBO Max, and perhaps streaming in general. In a sense, number one, two, and three at the same time.”
According to him, the production of the series is distinguished by unprecedented attention to detail and scale, which, it is claimed, surpasses even the film franchise. The series format will allow for a deeper exploration of the plot and characters, which feature films did not have time for.
“Harry Potter film producer David Heyman will tell you about the scale of production, the details, the meticulousness with which the team approaches the work and what it creates. This takes theatrical quality to a completely different level.”
The series is being produced by Warner Bros. Television in conjunction with HBO Entertainment, Brontë Film & TV, and Heyday Films. The project is planned for seven seasons — each adapting one of J.K. Rowling's books. The premiere of the first season is scheduled for early 2027, the exact release date has not yet been announced.
