February's Nintendo Direct may be the venue for the announcement of a new 3D Mario game, the successor to Super Mario Odyssey.
Information came from insiders Attackdabacklog and Nasha Weedle, who reported in a podcast that the showing may take place in the third week of February 2026.
These same sources predicted the appearance of Donkey Kong at the first Direct, which increases confidence in the new rumors. Almost nine years have passed since the release of Super Mario Odyssey – the game was released in October 2017 along with the first Switch. During this time, Nintendo EPD worked on Donkey Kong Bananza for Switch 2, but now it may be time for the return of the Italian plumber.
French insider BeeFun also mentioned a February Direct with a game, although the original date (February 10) did not materialize. Official confirmation from Nintendo usually appears a day or two before the broadcast.
