The image of the noir Spider will differ from the usual version of the Marvel hero.
The creators of the Spider-Noir series for Prime Video explained why the main character, played by Nicolas Cage, is named Ben Reilly instead of Peter Parker. According to showrunner Oren Uziel, the character is conceived as an older version of a familiar hero who has already «seen a lot».
«Peter Parker is associated with a schoolboy. This is a young man on the road to success. Ben Reilly has already gone this way and experienced a lot. He is trying to move on, but the past is constantly catching up with him. This is a different version of the character that we have not seen before.»
Executive producer Christopher Miller also commented on the changes in the hero's image.
«This character is very different from Peter Parker from the movies. He is older, disappointed in life and not afraid to beat someone up in a drunken stupor.»
The authors emphasized that the reasons for the name change will be revealed in the show itself. At the same time, some fans have already noted that in the comics Ben Reilly was a clone of Peter Parker, and not an alternative version of the hero.
The premiere of the «Spider-Noir» series is scheduled for spring 2026. The exact date has not yet been announced.
