Owners of the game on the original Switch will be able to upgrade for free.
Unknown Worlds Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of Subnautica – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Subnautica: Below Zero – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Both games will be released on the Nintendo console on February 17th.
Owners of the original games on Nintendo Switch will be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 versions completely free of charge. To do this, simply download the "Upgrade Pack" via the Nintendo eShop.
The developers have significantly improved the graphics and performance to match the capabilities of the new console:
- in docked mode, the games run at 1440p resolution
- in portable mode — 1080p
- both options provide a stable 60 frames per second
According to the studio, this provides "more responsive controls, increased immersion, and the smoothest possible underwater experience". In addition, the games have been optimized for Joy-Con 2 controllers.
