Wildlight Entertainment, the studio that released the shooter Highguard at the end of January, has reportedly laid off a "large part" of its team just a few weeks after the game's release.

The layoffs were disclosed by level designer Alex Greiner on his page on a professional social network. According to him, he and an unspecified number of employees were dismissed.

Unfortunately, today I was laid off, along with most of the Wildlight team. It is especially upsetting because we had a lot of unannounced content for Highguard that we were working on.
Alex Greiner.

Earlier, studio head and project director Chad Grenier said in an interview with Polygon that the team was not focusing on player count metrics.

It does not matter whether a thousand people play the game or one hundred million. What matters is that it is loved by those who play it.
