After a break, Anthony and Joe Russo have once again taken the helm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Their next project will be "Avengers: Doctor Doom" — the first part of a dilogy, which will be continued by "Avengers: Secret Wars". Gradually, the directors are revealing details of the upcoming film.
In an interview with Empire magazine, they stated that the new film will take narrative complexity to a "new level".
“As much as we’re driven to make these films exciting, what’s also important to us is what they’re capable of in terms of narrative complexity. I think ‘Doctor Doom’ has allowed us to push ourselves to a new level in that regard.”
The film will unite the Avengers, the heroes of Wakanda, the New Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four in a confrontation with Doctor Doom. Robert Downey Jr. will play the villain, and, according to the directors, it was this character who largely determined the direction of the future film — "Victor von Doom demands a certain tone."
The premiere of "Avengers: Doctor Doom" in foreign distribution is scheduled for December 18, 2026.
