The animated series "Terminator Zero" has been canceled after the first season. This was announced by the showrunner of the project, Mattson Tomlin. According to him, critics and viewers received the show positively, but the audience was not large enough for renewal.

"The series has been canceled. Critics and viewers received it magnificently, but in the end, not enough people watched it. I would have loved to continue the storyline of the \"Future War\" that I had planned for the second and third seasons, but I am also happy with how the series looks in its current form."

The premiere of "Terminator Zero" took place on August 29, 2024, on Netflix. The project received 87% "freshness" from critics and 79% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The plot told a self-contained story and was not directly related to James Cameron's films. The action took place in Tokyo in 1997, where scientist Malcolm Lee creates an artificial intelligence named Kokoro to resist Skynet.

According to Tomlin, the script for the second season was completely ready, and the third season was planned in detail. Netflix offered to complete the story with two or three additional episodes, but the showrunner refused, considering this format insufficient for a full-fledged finale.
