Blumhouse Productions has decided on the screenwriters for the Dead by Daylight adaptation. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, one of the authors of the "Conjuring" cinematic universe, and director and screenwriter Alexandre Aja, known for the horrors "Mirrors" and "The Hills Have Eyes," are working on the film.

Studio head Jason Blum commented on the choice:

"David and Alexandre bring to Dead by Daylight a rare balance between storytelling focused on characters and relentless genre intensity. Building on survival horror and psychological terror, they are building a world where fear is not just felt, but earned. This is a solid cinematic foundation capable of attracting a director who will reveal this vision through acting and scale."

For Blumhouse, the project looks like a logical continuation of the course towards video game adaptations. After the commercial success of the "Five Nights at Freddy's" series, the studio seeks to gain a foothold in the segment of gaming horrors. Despite the restrained reaction of critics, the films, with a relatively small budget, demonstrated high box office receipts and strong performance on streaming.

Dead by Daylight is in development, and the premiere date has not yet been announced.
