The PlayStation 3-era online mode will not be restored, but the collection will not be completely without network functions.
Konami has officially confirmed that Metal Gear Online from the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots version will not be included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The multiplayer mode that accompanied the release of MGS4 on PlayStation 3 will not be included in the new collection.
However, the collection will not be completely without online functions. Network modes will be available in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Players will be offered cooperative missions for two to four people in Co-Ops mode, as well as Versus Ops with matches for up to six participants.
The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is scheduled for August 27, 2026. The collection will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
