Insomniac Studios has dispelled rumors about the release of the Marvel's Spider-Man series on Xbox. In response to a user's question on X about a possible port, the studio's official account replied succinctly: "unlikely."
It seems that despite the changes in the industry, Kratos and Peter Parker remain Sony's most guarded assets.
This is not surprising: the first installment in 2018 brought Sony $3.8 billion, and each new installment sells over 10 million copies. Even success on PC, the Spider-Man 2 port earned $8 million in two days, did not make Sony allow direct competition to consoles.
History teaches: in the gaming industry, the only constant is change. In 2017, Insomniac confidently stated that Spider-Man would never be released on PC. Today, all parts are available on Windows. Also, Helldivers 2, published by Sony, hit the Xbox Series X|S, fueling players' fantasies about possible ports of future projects.
