Asus ROG Xbox Ally X Price Soars by Nearly $200

Currently only in Japan, but it is possible that the device will become more expensive in other regions as well.

At launch in the country, the junior ROG Xbox Ally model cost ¥89,800 (about $585), and the more advanced ROG Xbox Ally X version cost ¥139,800 (approximately $913). Now, as noted by journalists at Otaku Souken, on the official Asus website, the price of the ROG Xbox Ally X has increased to ¥169,800 ($1,109), which means an increase of ¥30,000 (about $196). The cost of the basic model remained unchanged.

The official reason for the price increase has not yet been announced. However, it is assumed that it is related to the continuing shortage and rising cost of fast RAM and storage devices.

The ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with 16 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM and a 512 GB SSD, while the ROG Xbox Ally X received 24 GB of faster LPDDR5X-8000 and a 1 TB drive. The more productive and in-demand memory in the older model is likely the reason for the price increase, while the younger version retained its previous price tag.

Price increases outside of Japan have not yet been confirmed.
