HBO has released the first teaser for the third season of «House of the Dragon». The trailer confirms that the continuation of the «Game of Thrones» prequel will be released in June 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.
The story moves to a more intense stage of the Targaryen civil war. The confrontation between Rhaenyra Targaryen and the supporters of Aegon II moves into an open phase, involving more and more participants in the conflict.
It is known that the third season will start with the Battle of the Gullet — one of the largest battles of the Dance of the Dragons. Francesca Orsi, head of drama at HBO, called the opening episode «explosive», and Olivia Cooke noted that the scale of the first episodes is comparable to the finale of the previous season. Showrunner Ryan Condal emphasized that the continuation has become the most ambitious in terms of production volume and filming complexity.
Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, and Olivia Cooke return to their key roles. The cast also includes Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, and others.
The series is based on George R. R. Martin’s book «Fire & Blood» and takes place two hundred years before the events of «Game of Thrones».
The third season will consist of eight episodes. HBO has already confirmed that the fourth season will be the final one for the project.
