The Hollywood Reporter reports that Sony has launched an animated Venom movie into production.
The project will be directed and produced by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the authors of the horror movie «Final Destination: Bloodlines», which was a success at the box office in 2025 and revived interest in the franchise. According to the publication, a screenwriter has not yet been appointed, but the Sony Pictures Animation division is forming a writing room to develop the story.
Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach, who worked on the previous films in the series, will likely produce. Tom Hardy's participation is also being discussed, but it is not specified whether the actor will return to voice Venom or will be limited to a producing role.
Sony has already achieved considerable success with animated projects in the Spider-Man universe, so the studio is likely considering this format as a more promising direction for the development of the franchise.
