Paramount has moved the release of the animated film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2" from September 17 to August 13, 2027. The company is likely hoping to take advantage of the summer vacation period, when family audiences actively visit cinemas. Attendance traditionally declines with the start of the school year.
The first part, "Mutant Mayhem," was released in August 2023. Despite limited promotion due to actor strikes, the film grossed $182 million worldwide. Even more significant for Paramount were the related sales: franchise products brought the company about $1 billion in retail revenue in the same year.
Jeff Rowe, who worked on the first part, is again directing the sequel. Kyler Spears and Yashar Kassai are listed as co-directors. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Josh Fagen, and Ramsey McBean are the producers of the project. Details about the plot and characters have not yet been disclosed.
